Achates Charter Chapter

The Livingston County Achates Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) was established June 5, 1972 with 29 charter members and is part of a nationwide support network. The name Achates means good, faithful friend.

The chapter nurtures women by:

• providing an exciting atmosphere where women can meet, build networks, friendships and community mindedness;
• holding monthly meetings that include professional development activities and dynamic speakers and programs on timely topics;
• offering leadership and public speaking opportunities in a safe environment;
• helping members and others reach their goals by raising scholarship funds for those who want to continue their education; and
• communicating through our monthly meetings, e-mails, and websites.

The Achates chapter meets 11 months of the year excluding the month of November. All meetings (expect for the December meeting) are held on the fourth Thursday of the month. The December meeting is held on the second Thursday of the month due to the holiday season and is our annual Christmas dinner.
